Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Conservative ThoughtThe basic message of the TM movement as stated clearly by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, is self sufficiency and bliss. However, Maharishi also shares a strong message about his brand of conservatism. He believes strongly in personal responsibility, personal rights, personal evolution (in concert with the universe), and personal achievement. In his philosophy, your life is your responsibility and everything that happens, happens because you are not in tune with the infinite (Creative Intelligence). In his philosophy there are no victims, only people who have not taken charge of their lives. His method of meditation is designed to remove all blocks, help you take charge of your destiny, and put you into a direct relationship with the infinite. The result is happiness and bliss.This strong message of no victims, personal responsibility, and a direct relationship with the infinite is a strong conservative message; yet, many TMers (those that practice Transcendental Meditation faithfully) have bought into many of the progressive beliefs even though they are the antithesis of Maharishi’s message. In fact, the ultimate goal of progressivism is to defeat all philosophies that honor a source of wisdom beyond our understanding; in other words, any religion or philosophy that puts “God” above the state is forbidden within the progressive government and will ultimately be forbidden in America should the Progressive Movement (Socialism on steroids) achieve their ultimate goal; complete control of the United States government.The author struggled with this dichotomy for months before realizing the heart of the issue.There are many people in the world who, TMers included, while having no idea of what constitutes conservative thought have bought into the lies and innuendo spread by the progressive movement. In fact, they hate the image of conservatism presented to them, while having no understanding of the truth of conservatism.What is presented here is the author’s interpretation of conservative thought, shown in relationship to Maharishi’s brand of conservatism, and counter to progressive beliefs. If you read this book as a liberal, there may be conservative principles that you do not agree with, instead siding with progressive beliefs. Hopefully, you will still gain a better understanding of conservative thought. If you read this book as an independent, you may discover that your ideas and beliefs are much more consistent with conservative thought that you ever thought possible.Regardless, enjoy!
